In consideration for your accepting this entry, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all rights for claims for damages I may have against the Regina Highland Festival Inc., The City of Regina, their agents, representatives, successors and assignees, for any and all injuries suffered by me at or through the Regina Highland Games and the Queen City Open Championship.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Championship

  1. Queen City Open Championship is sanctioned and conducted under the rules and regulations of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
  2. A draw for order of each dance will be held.
  3. Age as of 12:01 am May 22, 2011.
  4. Dancers must perform the 2011 S.O.B.H.D. Championship steps.
  5. Dancers must present their S.O.B.H.D card before receiving competitor numbers. If S.O.B.H.D card not shown, $5 fee will be charged and medals withheld until card is shown.
  6. Championship events are required to have a minimum of six dancers competing to be eligible for Championship status.
  7. Awards will be given up to 6th place.
  8. Judges places will be available for purchase at a cost of $2.00 please order at registration desk day of competition.
  9. WA WA Shrine Championship Dancer of the day will be awarded to the Championship dancer with the highest overall points.

Competition

  1. Competitions are governed by the rules and regulations of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
  2. Entries will be divided into categories after the closing date. The competition committee reserves the right to combine, split, or delete categories at this time.
  3. Money submitted for entries is non-refundable.
  4. Field entries will be accepted from out of town dancers only – for double the entry fee plus $10 late fee.
  5. Age: Applies to Date of Competition. Competitors may be requested to present proof of age. Competitors may enter only in events to which his/her age applies and the correct class (e.g. Beginner). Please refer to S.O.B.H.D. rules.
  6. All dancers MUST present their SOBHD card before receiving competitor numbers. If S.O.B.H.D card not shown, $5 fee will be charged and medals withheld until card is shown.
  7. Competitors: must be suitably attired; must be on hand when their event is called, or forfeit the right to dance in that event; last to enter – first to dance; must not wear or display medals until after the competition; must be in full costume to receive medals.
  8. Communication with a judge concerning a competitor will result in disqualification of that competitor. Any protests must be in writing and handed to the Competition Chairperson prior to the end of the competition and accompanied by a fee of $15. Decision of the judges is final.
  9. Medals and trophies will be awarded. No trophy for the Primary class. The scoring system for the S.O.B.H.D. will be in effect: 88, 56, 38, 25, 16, 10
  10. In the case of a tie, S.O.B.H.D. rules will govern. Awards will be given out for half of the number of dancers dancing (rounded up), to a maximum of six placings.
  11. Cash Prizes for Premier Nationals all ages – Aggregate Awards – 1st overall $75, 2nd overall $50
  12. Cash Prizes for Premier National 16 Years and over – 1st - $30, 2nd - $25, 3rd - $20, 4th - $15, 5th - $10, 6th - $10
  13. Any status changes must be phoned or emailed (preferred) immediately to Leah Sutton (leahsutton@accesscomm.ca, 306-537-6315) by May 20, 2011.

For your information

Morning: Registration is at 8:00 am and the championship begins 8:30 am. Early morning age groups include 7 to under 10, 10 and under 12, 12 and under 14. Callbacks for these early morning groups will occur once tabulated. At the completion of the first 3 groups, the next age groups to dance include 14 and under 16, 16 and under 18, and 18 and over.

Afternoon: Registration is at 1:00 pm and the competition begins 1:30 pm. There are three platforms and events will move quickly.
